July-August
Join us for a day or a summer, and embrace the rainbow of opportunities for growth, exploration, and awakening with the Clear Sky community. See the schedule below. Contact Michelle for further details.

Clear Sky comes alive with core teachings from Sensei and a diverse range of awakening activities during the summer. This is a time to embrace every event, from the life-changing and challenging to the heart-opening and mind-expanding.

The emphasis for Summer 2012 is Balance. Balance between inner and outer, movement and stillness, sacred and mundane, karma yoga and cushion meditation, giving and taking, teaching and learning. Experience how it is to be a part of an awakening community and take advantage of the summer weather, which offers a variety of accommodations.

Once again we are blessed to have Doug Sensei on site heading the weekly themes (with the exception of July 21-27) each Saturday through Tuesday throughout the summer. He will provide a morning meditation group sit, as well as a class after dinner. Instructions for individual practice will be provided and completed throughout the day, along with karma yoga responsibilities. Wongkurs may be requested and scheduled at a later point.

July 14-17
  Environmental Meditations and Study

The path of awakening is largely a journey of purification. Traditionally this journey was considered to be a blossoming realization of the lack of an inherent ego identity. In our modern times of overpopulation and environmental degradation it has become necessary to consider the impact of the external environment on awakening. This weekend will focus on our place in the natural environment with study of the local plant and animal life, as well as contemplation of the effect and feedback of the natural environment on our psyche through meditations on plants, land, sky, and whatever animals might pass by.

July 28-31
Bringing in the Sheaves – Towards a New Dharma Paradigm

Modern management systems that speak about group problem-solving skills have the potential to convert unfocused groups into learning organizations. These skills can be crafted as relevantly for corporate culture as for dharma communities. Using the language of psychology and science, as well as such clearly articulated writers as Peter Senge in his seminal book, The Fifth Discipline, this weekend will focus on developing meditations and philosophies that speak to the modern era, and developing these management systems within the sangha.

Aug 4-7
  Womb, Karma, and Transcendence

We are our mothers and fathers. This first weekend will focus on the Wisdom Mind – the Mother aspect. Together we will address patterns formed in the womb and explore how the mother affects that half of our life. Specifically we will see how the mother experience determines our style of response to all aspects of our lives, including our beliefs and attitudes about ourselves and how we make decisions and interact with others.

Aug 11-14
  Holistic Clearing Meditation

We are our mothers and fathers. This second weekend will focus on Skill and Means – the Father aspect. Using specific meditation techniques, we will have the opportunity to review our lived experiences and explore the strengths, weaknesses, and gaps in our beings. In so doing, a deeper depth balancing and overall integration of the being will be released.

Aug 18-21
 Star Group Practice and Study

We are born from the womb, but we are journeying to the stars and beyond. Transcendence of the ego is step one, and transcendence of the organism is step two. This weekend will introduce you to a powerful group meditation known as Star Group for healing yourself, others, and the planet. Be prepared to meet unfamiliar life forms and see new worlds, perhaps even in a new life form of yourself.

Aug 25-28
  Creative Imagination

We create our own world. Once upon a time, even classical meditations were invented and considered new. Meditation always builds on that which precedes it. Creative meditation creates something inherently new. Join us this weekend for a wide range of creative meditation opportunities that promise to take you to uncharted aspects of your being. Here we go....!

Sept 1-4
  Western Meditation Traditions

While the Eastern meditation traditions have recently taken hold in the West, the West has its own powerful meditation traditions. Following upon the Creative Imagination weekend, this weekend we will look at some of the Western traditions, such as the Body of Truth meditation techniques (as taught by Namgyal Rinpoche) and the Tarot meditations. Both studies demonstrate the Western path of the past, and point to other modern Western meditations based on computers, telescopes, microscopes, and other scientific explorations.

Mid-Week Workshops

In addition to Sensei's teachings, one-day workshops will also be offered on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the summer led by sangha members. These informal workshops are an opportunity for sangha members to practice their teaching skills and to demonstrate skills in these areas, even though they may not be at the professional level yet. These workshops are considered alternatives to karma yoga, and are open to any onsite or offsite interested persons for a fee of $25 per day. Wednesdays will focus on business or general learning opportunities, while Fridays will be body-oriented workshops. Stay tuned for more details on these workshops.
